Otto Emil Klose June 12, 1893 - March 30, 1977

Otto E. Klose, 83, died Wednesday at his home,
142 Austin Street. Mr. Klose had not been feeling well, it was reported, and
had gone back to bed after rising Wednesday morning. His wife, Olive, found
him dead at 10:27 a.m. Mr. Klose was born in Wadgassen, Germany June 12, 1893 and came to the United States when he was 18 years old. He came to Alaska a few years afterward, and lived in Wrangell before he came to Ketchikan in 1928. He was a chef and worked in several restaurants here, and also worked on various boats, including mail boats on Southeastern routes. In later years he worked with his son, Victor Klose, on the packer Annette. Survivors, include his wife, Olive, daughter, Della McAllister, who lives in Seattle, son, Victor Edward Klose of Ketchikan; two grandchildren, Valerie Kline and Kurtis Klose; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Kline. He is also survived by brothers, Walter and Marcel Klose; sisters, Agatha Meyer and Eleanor Horig, all in Germany. Rosary will be said in Holy Name Church at 8:30 p.m. today. Ketchikan Mortuary will be open for friends to visit from 7:30 to 10 o'clock tonight. Pallbearers for the service Saturday will be Mel Wick, Carl Schenk, Rollo Bray, Tom Chandler, Jim Hinman and Paul Brozena. Interment will be at Bayview Cemetery, Ketchikan, Alaska.
