George Beaudrie

April 15, 1902 - November 04, 1954

A Wrangell man was killed instantly here last night after he walked into the path of an oncoming car. The dead man was identified as George Beaudrie, 62, of Wrangell Death came about 9:30pm last night at the south end of Saxman when, according to witnesses Beaudrie walked into the path of a '47 Ford panel truck driven by Harold Smith of Roosevelt Drive. Smith was not held.

Territorial police who investigated the accident said Beaudrie was apparently killed instantly. He was taken to Ketchikan General Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. The accident victim was struck by the right front fender of the panel truck, which was traveling north on South Tongass Highway, police said.

Born and raised in Wrangell, Beaudrie had come into Ketchikan from fishing with his partner aboard the troller, Edison. Mr. Beaudrie is survived by his sister, Mrs. Olive Klose of Ketchikan, niece, Mrs. Della McAllister of Seattle, nephew, Victor Klose of Ketchikan, and grandniece, Valerie McAllister of Seattle. His parents, and a sister, Elizabeth, predeceased him.
